I put it on Facebook and they said this (and more):
I put it on twitter and more responses came back, one including something about a turkey leg that I need to learn more about.
“Turkey leg. Date ate like a pirate. Gross.”
I happen to agree in part with the pirate being gross comment, and that is because I am pretty particular when it comes to eating and table manners in general.
If you didn’t know I have a really low… OK that’s too much…I have zero tolerance for hearing people eat. To me it’s like forks being stabbed in my eyes, bamboo being shoved under my fingernails and probably better – nails on a chalkboard, all at once. I am not kidding. To me it is that bad.
Here is a post I wrote a long time ago now, back in 2010 over on the old blog. It has a story about a date I went on and I am going to nick my own story and put it over here for the benefit of the #fridaypoll. It’s also brilliant to see how my own writing has evolved. Anyhow…
Let’s get back on #Fridaypoll topic!
What’s my choice for worst date food? It’s a toss up really between soupy foods and spaghetti and meatballs. Both tend to be eaten noisily. (Stab me now.) Both can be messy. Both can have liquids that flick from your date’s spoon, chopsticks or fork onto you, your face or your clothes. Spaghetti sauce is pretty hard to get out of clothes if you accidently spill it. Ramen soup is oily and could leave a stain.
If I had to choose the worst food for my date to eat in front of me that would be ramen or pho or something like that. If I had to choose the worst food for me to eat in front of a date it would probably be spaghetti and meatballs. I am clumsy. Balls are gonna be on the floor. I think it’s also important to note that my date is an asshole to the wait staff I’m also done.
What about you? What do YOU think is the worst date food?
You can choose from the following very scientifically selected (not really) options that were the most common when I asked people earlier in the week, or you can add your own choice in the “other” option. As always I want to hear the whys. Add your reasons why to the comment section below, tweet using #fridaypoll and keep the convo going on Facebook if you would like.
The #fridaypoll is changing a little as I will be at work all day so I will be able to check in from time to time to add my two cents and RT as I can. To follow along, set up a column in Tweetdeck that follows #fridaypoll and feel free to also RT. Also in the past the poll used to run from 10am – 2pm PST but it will keep going indefinitely as far as voting goes I guess. I will however give a total at 2PM on 7/13/12.
Anyhow, get voting!
**Note: the poll isn’t showing in Firefox right now so try IE (gasp) or Chrome or Safari.
